2019 Ford F-250 Diesel

Does anyone have experience with the F-250? There are some good deals out there on 2019s. Love my 2013 Tundra but maxed out on weight with my 27FB.

You might find helpful threads in the Tow Vehicle forum:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f463/

Also, using the desktop version of this site [not the App], the search function in the blue box above works great. These search results may bear fruit IMO:

Good luck,

Peter

If you get a 250 diesel, look first at the actual payload on the driver's door post. While it should be plenty, that big heavy engine eats a LOT of payload, so if you travel "heavy" and are looking to this new vehicle to make that easy, the SRW 350 might also be something for you to consider.

heh.. and me a moderator and all, I didn't look at which forum this is in. I'm going to move it to the tow vehicle subforum.

For the next couple of days, a redirect will show in the original location that sends people to the new one.

Yes, this. I have seen some loaded F250s with a payload that is not all that much more than some 1/2 tons. Stepping up to an F350 is hardly any more expensive but it will give you ample payload capacity.

Unless you really need/want the diesel, a gas 3/4 ton truck will get you ~8-900 lbs. more payload without having to go up to the 1 ton (and added license cost/testing) plus about $9K less expensive. *You can buy a lot of fuel for the difference in cost. Fast Lane Trucks found the gas truck only a few MPG behind a diesel in side-by-side testing.

We’re very happy with our 2019 RAM 2500 6.4 Hemi and 2941 lbs. payload towing a 27’ Globetrotter

For $500 or $600 extra why would you not get a F350 as they ride the same with more payload?

Interesting how what appears to be the same truck can vary so much. My 2019 F250 CCSB lariat diesel has GAWR front and rear of 5200 and 6340.

It does an excellent job with our 2016 30FC, but if I had done my due diligence before this purchase I would have bought the F350. On a recent trip I did my first trip to the scales ever. Front and rear axles I was at 4660 and 4960 pounds for a total 9620 pounds. That leaves me with 380 pounds of GVWR margin. And I didn't have the bikes or kayaks on that trip.

I'd say get the F350.

I bought a 2019 F250 platinum diesel (6 1/2' bed) and it has a payload of 2132 lbs, about 600 up from our F150 where we were starting to max out (payload on our 250 is 2132 vs 1500 or so on the 150). I just got back from a 2,900 mile round trip, 2,200 of that pulling our 2017 27' FC and it was wonderful. The diesel pulls great going up hills and merging onto 70 mph interstates, and the exhaust brake helps to slow it down going down hills (Fancy Gap in NC; not like the west but still reasonably sized).

I considered the gas and I considered the F350 but I needed something before the 2020's were coming out and within a 500 mile radius of where I live on the east coast there wasn't much selection in terms of options and colors that we wanted. Out west or in rural areas there is probably more. We found what we wanted in a diesel and a 250 so we pulled the trigger. I would agree that the 350 would have made sure we never exceeded payload but I think we are pretty safe now considering how we use it most of the time. Diesel is more expensive and heavy, but damn I love torque!

PM me if you have specific questions about the process I went through upgrading from a 2017 F150 EB to this 2019 F250 diesel.

.

Pretty much the same story except live in a rural area so had more options on F350 vs 250. Decided the few hundred were worth it and truck was on the lot.

I have a F250 and live in TX, a co-worker lives in IL and had a F150. The color scheme and model is identical, mine looks like the bigger brother. I said I thought briefly about the 350 but 250 selection at the dealer was better. He mentioned that if I had an F350 in Illinois I would have to have safety inspection every six months.

So something to think about, does your state treat a "1 ton" truck differently than a "3/4 ton" from a licensing and inspection perspective?

How does the ride compare, F150 vs 250? And is the ride on a 350 and 250 the same?

F250

We have a 2016 F250 diesel. Love it. It handles our 30’ Classic with slide out beautifully. If I were doing it now I would get the F150 with max tow package (up to 13,200 lbs). Reason; the F250 is a real truck, rides like it and is a little inconvenient as a daily driver.

Both 2019 F250&350 rode different than our 2019 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4. GMC was more car like. 250 vs 350 we could not tell the difference back to back on the same test circuit. FWIW wife like F350 better than AT4 for long distance driving. Says more comfortable
