Just remember Seabloom, traveling with your Airstream is not a race. It’s a journey.

A larger fuel tank means more weight which reduces payload.

There are apps that will ID gas stations along your route, which combined with your vehicles fuel range function, allows you to plan your stops for gas and thus eliminate the need to carry extra gas.

I have also discovered during our trips that being forced to stop for gas more frequently in our GMC Sierra allows us to travel more miles overall in a day due to reduced fatigue.

I'm curious about the 1851 payload. That seems too good to be true. Are you reading that payload number off the yellow door sticker (Tire and Loading Information)?

I have found (in somewhat limited towing so far) that on the interstate it is great but on the back road state highways where I travel, I see fewer gas stations that encourage me to pull in with a trailer. I am also sort of chicken :-)

For me and my 2016 F250 has the best Nav system I have ever had. Has not failed me yet. The sync software is easy enough to do yourself.

Hello.

Yes, the payload on the yellow door sticker is 1,851. I special ordered the truck from the factory.

I should have plenty of extra payload capacity for our gear. After the tongue weight (631), 2 passengers (325), hitch weight (98), truck bed cover (42) I should have approx. 755 lbs. remaining.

Special order is the key. I looked at Ford F-150 and the only way I could get one with a payload this high in the state of Texas (truck capitol of the world) was to special order it. I didn’t want to wait 6-8 weeks and pay full price. The dealers tried real hard to get me in a F250 off their lot, but I didn’t need or really want that much truck. I was able to find 3 GMC Sierra SLT’s configured exactly the way I wanted chatting with GMC on their website. Also got to take advantage of year end incentives. Just had to decide which color, contact the dealer and go pick it up.

If there is a concern with the way nav functions that can be addressed with an update to the SYNC module which is located in the APIM module. These will update the SYNC 3.X software to the latest version. The software is supported under the original manufacturers warranty, three years, 36,000 mile base warranty.

Any Ford or Lincoln dealer will/should update sync for you for free. You need to give them a symptom... Nav does not work properly, phone drops calls etc. If you are out of original warranty then there will be a slight charge .3 to .5 hours approximate.
Maybe for older models. But this is NOT the case from 2017 on. As I said before I have talked directly to my dealer and Ford corporate and they have not yet come out with the updated maps. This is a major problem with the Ford NAV system. Miserably out of date.

That's because the system is different in 2016 than 2017 and after. Not so today. I'm just warning anyone that buys a 2017 or newer model the NAV updating stinks. Beware.

Please wait for a SYNC Agent to respond.

Hello Quenzer. My name is Deb. How can I help you?
Quenzer says:
Is there a map update for my 2017 F150 Navigation system?
Deb says:
I will certainly look into that for you! Please stand by while I check the information.
Deb says:
Thanks for your patience Quenzer! The navigation update for the SYNC 3 vehicles have not been released as of yet. We do not have an ETA at this time.
Quenzer says:
Ok. Just checking.

Here is my online chat with Ford.

Impressive payload. My old ‘16 Lariat Sport with about every option and a 3.5 eco only gave me 1486 in payload. Main reason why it got traded last August for a F350.

Sync 3 is great for Apple Play

I only use my Sync 3 system with Apple CarPlay, and it works great...I could care less about the Ford side of it, and generally, buying off the lot, you’re getting Nav no matter what as they usually put it in there.

Your experience may vary, but if you’re used to your iPhone, it’s a treat having a seamless experience right into your truck.

Wow! Nice payload number. Much better than my 2014 with basically the same specs.

F 150

I have the same pickup 2018 and it’s awesome! I tow a 33 Classic 75 mph like it’s not even there. GPS updates on WIFY automatically or when I use my Ford Pass and dial it up. With the backup camera I can see and also hear my wife backing me in.

F 150 payload

Also picked up my new F 150 this week. 3.5 eco boost , max tow package, tow mirrors , lariat package with 40/20/40 seat, LT tires. Did not order the nav package using an RV gps. Also mine is the extended cab wanted the extra foot in the truck bed.

F150 Payload and GPS

Since this thread has been woken up, figured I would throw in my thoughts.

I've had my 2018 F150 for about a year now. Bought in anticipation of towing my '56 Safari which should be completed late this summer. It's the 5 liter V8 with tow package which won't even notice the 3000# Safari. Mileage so far is about 19MPG which is about one MPG worse than my previous truck a V6 Tacoma.

Here is the sticker from my truck. Interesting how these load values of these trucks are all over the map. 1890#, that's almost a ton.

Our plan is to carry one larger or two small motorcycles in the back when we travel.

I didn't get the Nav system but love the Apple CarPlay. I use Google Maps or Waze, but my favorite GPS app is Sygic. The beauty of Sygic is all of the maps can be downloaded and are free updates for life. I paid $30 for the World version and have used it successfully all over Europe and even in India. Can't say enough good things about it. I guess I had to add the CarPlay option for another $32. Amazing GPS for under $100 total and NO data charges.
