Be careful reading "listed" specs on payload...each vehicle is different depending on options, and most of us here understand the "specs" and the actual "sticker" on the door never are the same...
the sticker is the bible. My 2011 Tahoe (1250lb) actually had more "payload" then my 2012 F150 Platinum (1039lbs) but I did not know about this important stuff until I started reading the Forum and checked...what a surprise! For 2 years, I was driving around with my F150EB, pulling my 25'AS with
800+lbs tongue weight, loaded with kayaks, dog, generator, camping gear, bbq, wood, etc....and I was at least 200-300 lbs overloaded at times...did not know it.
As for your question about the new Ford diesel in the F150, if it were me, I would go for the 3.6EB engine..plenty of torque (470lbs on the EB vs 440lbs for new diesel) good gas mileage with EB (if you can keep your foot off the accelerator!) solid engine and 10 speed transmission. The F150EB will do great job pulling your AS. Plus, oil changes are cheaper with the gas vs diesel and no fuel filter change every few oil changes to worry about with the gas EB. And....gas is much cheaper. We put 130K+ miles on that F150EB in 5 years...no issues at all. Pulled 2 different 25' AS models...loved it. Good luck!
