2017 Tahoe z71 towing issue
Does anyone have any comments on a tahoe with factory rear end leveling shocks and equalizer hitches? I have a front end that has a floating even though all my numbers for hitch config are correct. Do the air shocks compete with the sway and weight distribution hitches? What should I do next? I am very bummed I can't get this right. I pull a 19' Bambi international, 2011. thanks!!!

I’ve noticed in my ‘16 Yukon XL with the HD Trailering package that if I’m over 70mph the front end floats. I’m using a blue ox WD hitch. Is your issue speed dependent as well?

2017 Tahoe z71 towing issue
What are your axle weights with and without the trailer / weight distribution?
Air suspension in general does not compete with WD if you have setup the rig correctly.
At a superficial level sounds like you may need more weight to be transferred to the front axle.

I tow a 25FB with a 2010 Yukon Denali (short wheelbase) AWD. Older than yours but it has a lot in common. Mine does have air shocks in the rear.
I have found that my Yukon needs a LOT of weight distribution to make the front end feel stable and planted. I have been to the CAT scales over a dozen times in the six years I've had the Yukon, learning how the rig behaves.
My latest report shows the front axle carrying 180 pounds of the tongue weight, and the rear axle carrying 620 pounds. If I back off one chain link on the hitch, my front axle gets lighter by about 150 pounds. At that point, the car feels loose/squirrely. And that still has the front axle heavy than its unhitched weight.
So make sure you have plenty of WD set. And if you haven't done a three-pass weighing on a truck scale, you should get it done.

No, mine is not speed dependent, but reading the other answers, I need to get someone locally who know all the things you are saying. It is not something I will be able to do by myself and the local shops are not real crazy about helping me figure this out. thanks for helping!!

Air shocks don’t compete with weight distributing hitches, they just maintain a level attitude when the tow vehicle is loaded. I would agree that the likely culprit is not enough transfer to the front tires.
You will probably need to do some of your own research. In the meantime, try increasing tension on the hitch, one link at a time. You may notice a significant improvement.

We tow a 20FC with a GMC Canyon and WD setup and it is rock solid even with significant side winds we have experienced so this seems odd you are having a problem with what should be a more capable vehicle. Do you have non oem offset wheels that might affect steering geometry? We actually set our WD so that rear of TV settles about 1/2" lower than front end drop, so not sure you need to aim for identical front and rear drop, but perhaps experiment with that.
