2017 f350
took delivery of our F350 and the first and most obvious difference is the height of the new truck. It is very close to not going in our garage, 7' opening. And with the Leer topper we had to remove the weather stripping, it's that close. Needed to lengthen the safety chains to reach and the 7 way trailer plug might be too short also. The ProPride hitch had to be lowered, looks great but need to hook up and pull to see if we have a good setup. Quite a few interior control changes, still trying to figure it out, different than our 2015. It is nice looking and hopefully as trouble free as our last two. I'll post a picture when we get the AS hooked up to it. I might be looking for a short wiring extension it anyone has a suggestion.

Pro Pride has the 7 plug extensions. You can buy the extension kit which incluses the chain extension and 7 plug.

I have been told by our dealer that the new truck is 4" higher than our 2015 and they don't know why Ford jacked it up so much as a number of people are questioning the height over previous models.

The rear levelling block can be changed for a lower one, or mill it an inch. The F250 block is 2" and the F350 is 3.5" if I recall. Not sure what can be done about the front end, but at least that will get the back down a bit. I measured the ground to bottom of wheel wells and there is close to 4" difference front to back.

Careful about that note in PP manual about the safety chain length. The longest needed is not straight on, in my experience.

We just received our new F350. Our other TV is a GMC Yukon XL. We have only towed about 60 miles (AS 27FB) on the F350. The 60 miles was not really enough time to completely acclimate to the new TV. Interestingly, we measured from the ground to the bottom of both receiver hitches on flat ground. The measurements were within 3/8 of an inch. However, it appeared to the eye that the trailer's nose was riding slightly higher than it was while towed by Yukon XL. Can't figure that one out. Even though the AS dealer in ABQ, New Mexico lowered the ball as much as possible it remained slightly higher. We are using the same Centerline W/D system-HUSKY #32218 • CENTER LINE TS 800-1200 lbs • 2 – 5/16” Ball. Does anyone know if the W/D needs to have additional shims added to it? I do not think I want to lower the hitch anymore due to dredging cement when pulling into driveways etc. As stated in previous post the new F350 rear end is considerably higher than the front end. I am no expert but I would think this has to do with the off road suspension and...
Thoughts? And thank yous!

My RAM 3500 is the same so when I load the 4050# of payload, the rear bumper is near level with front?

Hitch height
I had to lower the hitch 3" to accommodate the difference in height between our 2015 F250 and the 2017 F350, I will attach a picture of the setup later. Pulled the AS 350 miles yesterday and used the recommended tire pressure of 60 psi front, 80 psi in rear, also reduced the tire pressure on the AS to 65psi. Very noticeable improvement in ride for the truck and trailer. Monitored the temps after a couple of long pulls and everything was consistent and fine. The trailer was taking too much of a beating with the unnecessary high pressure in the tires. We have had several interior rivets to replace and the cabinets were usually a mess, and occasional lower drawers open. Everything rode in place this trip.

This is it, they're built to carry x-amount, the choice is space for the suspension to compress to level at max load or less travel equals rock solid bone jarring ride.

I now have about 3,500 miles towing with our 2017 250. We had to adjust the pro pride and lengthen the electrical connection. Chains were fine. I did not buy the electrical extender, but instead ordered a new cable (same brand as original equipment) and then spliced it in. This works great.
Just to see what the balance was, I took it through the scales and came out at:
steer axle: 4780
Drive axle: 5040
Trailer: 5740
This is with 1400 pound bars and 5.5 inches. I wasn't nearly this balanced in the f150.
The rig is amazingly stable and solid. I am coming from a 2011 f150 and the difference is substantial. I have been driving out west with lots of wind with no problems at all. When the road a clear, I set the cruise and let the truck do the work.

Picture
Found out we don't need the wiring extension, just need to extend the chains. Feels like we got the PP setup pretty good, within a couple hundred pounds at the front axle of the unloaded weight and everything looks level.

As always, is the trailer dead level? Have the trailer axles been split on the CAT Scale pads to verify an equal loading?
Because no matter the truck, what I see in thousands of miles per week is the TT riding on the front axle. (I doubt anyone sees more rigs than I unless they're in the same industry).
The RVer answer to bad lash up is inevitably a larger pickup.
And it's the wrong answer more often than not.
"Hey, if I can't feel it at the deadened-feel steering wheel, all is great!!"

For us, it came down to payload. Mama paints rocks. Think: Lucile Ball in the Long, Long Trailer. The F150 payload and scale put me in the corner - tell Mama she has to weigh under 120lbs, including the favored chocolate Labrador, or get a larger payload. Contributing factors were 1. F150 tow capacity vs payload and 2. advertised tongue weight of a 2017 AS Serenity 27FB vs the actual. F350 on the way to us next week. I am thinking I can still use the PP hitch, tho I don't think I would need it. It appears there is room to drop the hitch the 3-4 inches needed. What's your experience?

My 3500 RAM, PPP, and 30' Classic are a great combo. With the 350, you can lightly load the WD jacks (4") and enjoy all the No-Sway. The stinger makes a great step up.
