2016 Highlander with Sport 22 ft

Hi All,
New to the forum and have read lots of material. We are retired and have a 2016 Highlander with the 5000 pound tow hitch factory installed with it's 4 pin connector. We are planning on purchasing a 22 foot Sport in November. The AS dealer (a couple of them) have told us that the Highlander will do fine, just go slow in the mountains. The car dealer says about the same. I would love to hear from anyone pulling a 22 foot with the Highlander, what problems you have had. Also, the AS dealer does not want to install the brake controller or 7 pin hitch connector due to fear that it will damage the Toyota computer. Toyota dealer says aftermarket will be fine, so would love to hear thoughts on that also. My local utility trailer dealer says they can do the install. Best, Bob

Thanks. Everything is on my to do list. The 2019 Sport comes with the backup monitor as a stock item. Definitely a must have. Hoping that our Highlander will be a satisfactory tow vehicle. Not ideal, but for the times that we need to tow, should get us by (fingers crossed!!). Best, Bob
