2008 Dodge Hemi 4x4 Pick up 1970 Safari gas mileage

We just returned home from a 4000 mile trip from Michigan to Yellowstone and back. We went to Mt Rushmore and Devils Tower, the Big Horns, out to Yellowstone, down to Jackson Hole, then back home through Neb//Iowa/Illinois/Indiana. We averaged 12.4 mpg for the entire trip which I thought was pretty good considering we had my tools, three bikes, a 6 year old and my wife and I. The best mileage towing was out of Wyoming into Nebraska (14.5 mpg) and the worst was 11.0 up into the NorthEast entrance of Yellowstone. Thought people might want to know.

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

Sounds like a great Airstream adventure. Glad to hear that all went well. I'm sure that you have some pictures to share, cough 'em up.

Dean,
Took that trip a few years ago with my wife and pup. Beautiful country. Being a flat-lander, that was the first time I have seen real mountains up close. Everything is bigger out there compared to the Midwest. Being slightly afraid of heights, some of those passes can really make a guy nervous.

I was surprised that I got over 11 mpg for the whole trip with my 30 footer and the 1/2 ton. We did tool around Yellowstone for a few days in the truck, which should have helped the mileage. But still I was pleasantly surprised when we got home.

Glad to see you had a safe trip.

pics

Oh, I've got pics, Baby. We travelled with another couple and their kids and I think they became a little nauseated that I had to pull over all the time and take pictures of the Airstream in different scenic places. Hey, I dig my rig. I've attached a couple pics, hope this works. The first is the Badlands, and the second is Pebble Creek Campground in the Lamar Valley at Yellowstone.
Also, had Goodyear Marathons installed before we left based on many discussions with Forum members and I can't say enough about how smooth they rode. No more stuff of all over the place when we arrived at our destination.
Regards,
Dean
