2008, 2009, or 2010 Silverado HD Purchase?

I have found a 2010 Silverado 2500 HD Crew Cab 4x4 Z71 (6.6 Duramax)that I really like to tow our 28' Safari. It has plenty of bells and whistles and is exactly the color we have been looking for. However, it's hard to justify taking the depreciation on a new vehicle over a slightly used 2008 or 2009 model with the same specs (if I can find one).

In your opinion; are there any significant differences between the 2008, 2009 and 2010 models regarding repairs, performance, mileage etc. or are the stats pretty similar from one model year to the other.

Any information/experiences are appreciated.

Thank you!

As far as I know they are pretty close. Just remember that when a change comes about in any new vehicle that first year product may have some short comings till they fix it in all models that come after that.
I bought a 2007 which was the last year of the Chevy Classic model pickup and actually was built with the 2006 engine in it. The LBZ( engine type) and it is supposed to be the best diesel so far,. so I lucked out. The 2007 1/2 model was the new year switch to new body and more emmissions add ons.
If what I said above holds true, and you get a model 09, or 10 you will be doing well by the fact that you will get a proven model with a couple of years under its belt. The engine is still basically the the same as mine but with more emissions stuff. I have not heard any major complaints or recalls in any of the Chevy trucks in the last 5 years.
I hope that makes sense to you and sorta answers your question.

If I remember right, stability control became available or standard on most of GM's 3/4-ton trucks for 2009. I would want that feature, especially on a high-center-of-gravity vehicle.

Thanks for the reply Bluto. I looked extensively at the 06 and early 07 models. You definitely have a great engine there. I believe the basic Duramax has remained relative unchanged since 2001, but because of tougher emission standards the mileage and performance have been altered.

Starting Jan. 1, 2010, all new diesel-powered vehicles will again have to meet increased federal diesel emission standards that will reduce allowable nitrogen oxide levels by 90 percent from today, 96 percent from 1994 levels. This will also increase the cost to the consumer.

2010 maybe the last year for the diesel before federal control further impedes the market...

I think you're right Tom. Excellent point.

Anyone else have experience with how these three model years stack up?

2006 was the first year for the 6 spd Alli...anything after that is gravy!
Buy the proper truck, and you won't be disappointed...or have to do it again anytime soon.

You have chosen wisely...

Oh, to answer your question, no big diff between those years...as noted big change for GM was 07 model year.
