05 bambi 16 and 2007 trailblazer

Dose anyone else have this combination or close to it. We previously had a 98 suburban , 2500, for our 81 , 31' , we also hauled a 60 pacer, 16' with the 98. Got rid of all that in '03 , swore we're through with it, but we are airstream lovers and just found the bambi. Reluctant to wire up for electric brakes as we will get a truck. You know golf cart in bed and trailer behind.

We are hoping the feds do what they rumored about a tax break on gms. Yes, we are chevy people, too. We have the gm card with the perks and have actually saved over 7,000 on chevys.

Just curious if anyone has experience with this combo and any pros or cons.

05 bambi 16 and 2003 Lincoln Aviator

I am not sure if your Trailblazer has the V8 or V6. We had an 05 Bambi CCD/International and pulled it with our 03 Lincoln Aviator which had a 4.6L V8. This combination worked out very well for us, living near the mountians (SLC, UT) we had no problems.

Most if not all the Trailblazer line has the 4.2L I-6 engine. Towing a 16' Bambi would be no sweat for it as you have nearly 2x the capacity that is required. The only Trailblazer I know of that got a bigger engine was the SS model and that didn't yield any better tow rating.

Here are the baseline tow ratings for Chevy SUVs and pickups:

You could pull up to a 22 footer I believe and that is only because I'm not sure of the wheelbase, but a 16' is pretty much a slam dunk with a GVWR of 3500lbs.

I have a friend that tows a 16' Bambi with an SS version Trailblazer, no equalizer hitch, no problems. Prior to this set-up he was towing with an older Trailblazer with no problems as well.

I tow a 19' Bambi with a 2006 Trailblazer EXT (long wheelbase) which has the 5.3 V8.

No problems over two years of towing.

Only a few years (2005+ ???) have the 5.3 V8, and originally they were only in the EXT model.

The I6 is a strong engine, and should tow a shorter, lighter trailer. It won't get great gas mileage. The V8 tends to get better mileage than the I6 in this SUV. When towing, I get between 10.5 and 11.5 going 65-70 (2 years ago) and between 11 and 12.5 going 60 (last year).

I wouldn't want to tow a 19' without the V8 - I travel over too many hills...

Hope this helps,
Matt
