Cute!
Is it going there in your fireplace, or are you going to put it in a trailer?

It looks really nice.
Are the heat shields are mounted tight to the wall? You would be amazed at how much better the work if you uses 1/4 - 1/2" spacers. They become cool to the touch as the air moving by convection behind them circulates the heat rather than just becoming hot.

Thanks!
Nope, they've got a 1" gap behind them, which is working great!
I've got a lot more detail in my build thread

Awesome!!
My wood stove is still the best item I've ever installed. In ten years time I'll be just as happy feeding tiny bits of wood into it as I am today.

Aside from the physical warmth a woodstove provides, there is something viscerally touched in the ritual of building a fire and tending it to provide for yourself a most basic need.
You may have to be there to understand.
I enjoy hauling wood, cleaning out ashes and building a fire every morning, then watching the flame and warm red glow, almost as much as the unparalleled experience of the heat the stove provides...add to that the faint, but lovely, whiff of wood smoke.
One of the constant joys and nurturant of my soul is the woodstove in my small house.
An excellent choice, and if I could have one like yours in my Interstate, I would.

I pur. ceramic spacers from Vermont Castings dealer to space back shield from car siding wood wall using cement board for backer. I have next to largest Vermont casings Wood stove installed minimum dist. from back wall. Wall remains cool to touch w/these spacers. IMO never install wood stove close to combustionble back wall w/out some spacing, ceramic spacers IMO are best for this. I also have wood burner in walk out basement w/poured cement walls w/brick facing, no need for backer & spacers. Also 2 wood burning fire places, so I enjoy what Maggie refers ambiance. A lso exc. to cook on just like old time cook stoves.

Another week in, still loving it!
Getting a better hang of it. I think I was too afraid to overfire it, and as a result didn't burn hot enough and a bit of creosote started dripping off the chimney cap onto the airstream. I still need to clean that off, but have been burning hotter and haven't had any issues since, other than it being 80° in the bedroom
I'm currently burning very very dry (possibly too dry) hardwood, hopefully switching to a slightly higher moisture content and a different wood will help me burn in the right range without overheating the airstream
