Strongly agree!!! Two years ago we were spending Xmas in Utah where it got this cold. Your stove, oven and breathing create more moisture than you realize and getting that out of the air (and off the inside of your windows, where it will freeze) is important. Ours had a pretty large reservoir that we had to dump in the morning and again before bed as it completely filled. It wasn’t a huge unit (about the size of an electric heater) but it made a world of difference in comfort!

My thanks to Fungus for the summary and to Kelmech for asking the question. We just got our Flying Cloud 25RB last month and I've been watching what folks are doing for cold weather, both on the road and in storage.

We're planning our shakedown trip to Port Aransas next week. The cold front will be clear by then but it will still be "a little" chilly. Looking forward to our adventure to see what we missing in the preparation (hopefully not too much - great advice found here in the Forum!).

All the best,
Rey

Woke up this morning at 7am and started to go to the pool at the rec center to do my morning swim...Alexa told me it was 14 out but going to get up to 34!...the pool was not open today.(thank you Lord!) Suns out, and I have to smoke a salmon for family gettogether this afternoon...not looking forward to starting the smoker!

In looking at the news showing the power outages across the nation makes me glad I don't have an EV....wonder what those folks are doing without power.

Ok, update from me, original poster. We used 55% of one of our 30 pound propane tanks over the two days by alternating with electric heater so as not to burn through too much propane. Had an electric blanket, mostly stayed in bed and watched movies. It was fun! Today left Lake Colorado City State Park at 9:45 Texas time with a temp of 21, found black and gray tank valves frozen shut. Driving to our next destination today where expected temp on arrival should be around 35, we will attempt to dump then. Missing equipment we would buy for next time: dehumidifier (although cracking open fans did work). As long as valves can open on our arrival we are good. Will do a final update to let you all know. So many great suggestions and comments! Thank you all!

Good for you…if neither you nor your rig froze up, it’s an adventure and tales to tell around a campfire.

I, personally, think it is good to test the limits of our systems, to know how and that everything works, fine tune your methods, etc.

All part of the privilege of travel.

All good until the power goes out, then what is Plan B?
Got a generator or enough LP to keep the unit at 40degrees?

Freezing during driving?

So what is the consensus about driving and towing in below freezing temperatures? Assuming road conditions are acceptable and ignoring the effects of road treatments on coated aluminum.

If coming from an above freezing area towing into a below freezing area should you attempt to winterize or just stay in place until the destination temperature is above freezing?

Conversely if you are OK in a location that has below freezing temperatures do you stay until it warms up before moving again?

I would think that traveling through an area with freezing temps and plumbing pipes full of water is not good.

Thanks!
