Camping SE Texas Question

Do you have any suggestion for camping in south east Texas for January. Private, State or Federal and hopefully close to a place to kayak.

Info on Padre Island would be helpful.

If your looking in the Corpus Christi/Port Aransas area...here are some websites:
www.ccrvresorts.com
www.onthebeachrvpark.com

My In-Laws have stayed at Colonia Del Ray with their 34 ft Airstream a couple of times when visiting...they seemed satisfied with the place. Padre Palms is small, but access to the water is very close. On the Beach Rv Park in Port Aransas is right on the Gulf (100 yards to be exact).

Howie: We spent two weeks last March at Isla Blanca on the southern tip of South Padre Island. Its a Cameron county park with a variety of sites, some small and some a bit roomier. It has water access to the inland side of the island with a launch area. That should be OK for kayaking. It also has a good beach on the Gulf side. It tends to be busy, so a reservation would be highly recommended. We will go back next time we are in south Texas.

Cheers,
Kerrbett

Try this. There won't be any Winter Texans and if your adventurous this is for you. NOT the run of the mill camp grounds. Best kept secret list!!

SE Texas would be Beaumont/Port Arthur. Not too much out there (swamp land).

Now, South Texas (from Victoria westwards past San Antonio, and including the Valley

has tons of choices. Rockport is prettier than Corpus Christi (and less than an hour away) with tons of private parks (mostly small, some larger and nicer). Colonia Del Rey is about it for CC, so look to state and national parks. Goose Island, Goliad, Padre Island. Do a search on here, we discussed CC/Padre Island extensively in at least one thread.
