What do you think about painting the subfloor?

I am in the midst of removing all the vinyl plank flooring installed by the previous owner. The PO had installed a 1/4" subfloor over the original subfloor and it is in good shape. Unfortunately, we had a water leak in the front window area over the winter and when I took up the vinyl, the floor is damp. It doesn't seem to be rotted. I was planning on installing a new vinyl floor, but I don't want to do that until we are sure the leak is fixed (my husband says it is fixed now). My question - what if I just paint the subfloor with a latex paint and camp throughout the summer and make sure the leak is gone? Will this allow the floor to completely dry out? I was going to use vinyl planks but there was so much dirt between the seams of the previous floor I am thinking sheet vinyl might be best. Or maybe carpet tiles over the painted floor? Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

Avoid the vinyl planks. It sounds like you might be a candidate for an Armstrong tile floor. They are as good as the old Linoleum, are available, easy to install, have variety in colors and design. Dry your wood floor, paint it with a quality "porch Paint, install the tiles and then use Vulcum to seal all the edges and any perforations.

then it should be restricted, redesigned or removed from production."
