Vinyl flooring 'floating'

Hey all. On a recent Airstream (2020 model year), how is the vinyl flooring put in place? Is it glued throughout?

Reason I'm asking is I've noticed a spot in front of the range on our Bambi 22FB where it is 'floating', i.e. doesn't seem glued anymore. It's right over the axle and looks to be in between two pieces of the frame (can feel subtle bumps on either side). I'm able to get in and look on the other side of the nearby cabinet and the vinyl there extends for a couple of inches and is still in place. I can also see that the plywood is in good shape. No sign of water or any other damage.

So, could the vinyl just glued on the edges or is the floating perhaps caused by the plywood sagging in between two 'joists' or both?

As always, appreciate all input.

Hi

A bit of a float is not uncommon as the trailer flexes. Often you will see no float with the stabilizers up and a bit of a hollow pint with the stabilizers up.

Flooring is glued around the edges.

Ok. Thanks. I assume there is no way to deal with it?

Wrinkles in the floor can be dealt with somewhat by having them rolled /stretched out and sometimes spot glued down from what I understand.

Hi,

have you ever figured out what caused it or have you fixed it?

Thanks,
Christian

We had this in our new 2021. The dealer stated that it would "settle" over time. Somehow it did and we no longer have this issue. The flooring isn't glued to the subfloor - not sure why other than maybe its a lot easier to fix/replace if necessary.

My advice for now is to put some rugs down which will at least put a little weight on it and make it less noticeable.

Correct. It isn't glued throughout but rather stapled on the edges under the furniture or held in place by the trim piece at the bottom of the walls.

My guess is that glue wouldn't do well overtime in such a shaky, humid environment and you'd end up with more areas that float or feel 'crunchy' from glue that's detached.

I now have a 2022 unit with the composite floor and there is no floating whatsoever. It's one piece so no plywood seams that buckle or are uneven and lead to some buckling, which is what I believe caused the issue in my previous AS.

Interesting - our 2021 has the composite floor as well and we had the bubbling of the floating vinyl. Congrats on the new trailer!

We have a 2017 and no bubbles. But I can see why they don’t glue it.

We have a GT and the woven flooring. Maybe that one behaves differently given it's less uniform? Just guessing.
