Plasticizers are chemicals that are blended into polymers to soften and/or enhance certain properties. Since they are not chemically reacted to the polymer (i.e., plastic), they are mobile and can diffuse in and out with the net flow from the area of higher concentration to an area of lower concentration. Their diffusion out of plastics it what creates that new car smell that is so familiar.

Your job is to get those chemicals to diffuse back out of your vinyl floor and heat is your friend. While there may always be a mark, my guess is that the discoloration will lessen with time. GL, Dave

Well I have to admit that I am now rather exited at the prospect of a new floor finish. I suppose most of you with the standard plank flooring, know how the dirt gets into the grooves simulating wood grain. It is a hands on knees long cleaning job, I will not miss that job.
So I have been looking at and researching vinyl click planking. This stuff is excellent, it floats, is waterproof, easy to install, easy to clean and looks great, it sure looks better than the stuff in her now. And the next best thing about it, it is easy to replace. I am going for a high end product finish because it still will not cost a lot and will look excellent.
I am a happier old boy today, my smile has returned.
