rubber flooring
i use rubber flooring on all my remodels,, now on number 4. the absolute best. it is lighweight, natural, flexible, resilient, a treat to walk on. the colour is solid throughout, it´s non flammable and pretty indestructable. comes in tiles, usually 20 x 20 or 40 x 40 or sheets, usually 5 or 6 ft. wide
i glue it down though interlocking is now available. surfaces are varied:
smooth, raised dots or..., hammered, slate. i purchase from PRF ACTIVA -
the flooring division of PIRELLI,, they´ve been making flooring for over 80
years. the warehouse is in new jersey and they have an overstock, close
out, discontinued department - i have never paid more than $1.50 sq. ft.
for 1st quality goods with guarantee. they will send samples. the 1st floor is still looking great after more than 25 years and if you are doing a
´vintage´ restoration,, this material qualifies.

We used PIRELLI rubber flooring in all the circus equipment that I had built in Italy for CIRCUS TIVOLI in 1980. I also had some shipped to Canada. It was used throughout the Director’s Wagon that Wiltsie Truck Bodies built for me.
The Big Apple Circus in New York has had the trailer for many years now. The tile may still be there. It’s very tough stuff.
I had the style with 1 1/2” circle nubs throughout. I guess it would qualify as vintage because it’s been made for so long but it’s also the type of flooring that avant-garde or contemporary architects specify as well.
