I tore the carpet out of my bathroom and have vinyl tile to put down. there is a lip from the toilet/sink surround that pokes out about an inch over the plywood flooring.
If I replace the round headed screws that hold it down with flat heads, and tile over it, any problem? I think the tile is resilient enought where the slight lip height will not show.
Thankfully the wood is in great shape, no rot.
Flat heads you will have to counter sink, the thickness of the plastic will have to be more than the thickness of the screw head. If you make a transition with filler around the edge of the plastic it would give more contact surface for the tile, especially the sheets that were cut fairly small.
