Allure or Laminate Flooring

We have just purchased our first Airstream several days ago. 1999 31 ft. We are not new to camping, just AS. We have had 3 fifth wheels and we just sold our 25 ft Avion, which I LOVED. It was just to small for us. I knew I did not want a traditional camper having the Avion, and wanted something newer, we opted for an AS. The first thing we have done, is ripped out all of the carpet. We are looking into the Allure or a floating laminate. Pros and cons for each will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I can only tell you our experience. We had an older AS we put laminate in. It looked great, but didn't hold up as well as we would have liked. We had separation and some buckling. We were told by a flooring person that laminate did not like temperature extremes.
I have no experience with Allure, but our current AS has vinyl flooring that I like. Very easy to clean.

I have laminate through our house. It's holding up pretty well with two large dogs and small messy children. One downside to laminate is that it expands and contracts a lot with moisture and temps. Also getting water in it and/or the joints is bad news.

Allure appears to be more water prof, but still expands and contracts. We currently have boxes of allure waiting to be installed sitting in the garage... I think it will be better than laminate.. We will see..

We have laminate in our house, too. We have dogs and parrot and live on a farm. I LOVE it in the house. However, like you, we have had some problems with spilled water that wasn't noticed right away.

We did glue down cork tiles from Lumber Liquidators and are really pleased with them so far. Unlike laminate, if you damage a tile, you just cut it out with a utility knife, scrape off the old glue, and glue in a new one in. Cork also insulates pretty well and is durable so far with three dogs. The few scuffs/scratches we made on it by dropping tools (we're still renovating) are barely noticeable with the cork's pattern. Did I mention it was just over a dollar a square foot, plus the glue? We were able to pay to have it professionally installed with the money we saved!

Engineered, snap together in our 34' is doing great! We changed direction of layout at critical flex points and it is great!

I cut 1/4 round molding for edges and air nailed to vertical edges. Where worried I used double sides sticky tape, again on vertical wall not floor. This lets floor "move".. Zero problems for 4 months or so and 6 trips with and without Grandcritters and dogs.
