Shock Bushings

My bushings on my 2014 23D Gabriel shocks are trashed. Can you buy just the bushing or do you have to buy the whole shock. My shocks are in great shape so I do not need the shock just the bushing.
Thanks
Ronnie

You could, but the shocks are cheap as it is. It’s the labor, not the part.

I’d likely change the bushings to polyurethane on a new set of shocks.

are you referring to the rubber part that the mount slides through?? and you are saying on a 2014 they are done??

I just took what appears to be original 2005 shocks off a classic and the rubber bushing was in great shape. excess wearing may mean the axle may be or the shock mount are not inline causing a twisting motion in the shocks.

weird for sure.

You can buy aftermarket bushings, several online sources or your local autoparts supplier can source them. Just measure the inside and outside diameter and the height (length). I agree with slowmover and would go with a polyurethane bushing, but make sure to order two-part bushings; polyurethane is quite a bit stiffer and will not install as easily over the post in the tight space between the axle arm and frame as do the rubber bushings.

I just changed out shocks and before installed i pulled the rubber bushing out of shock and cut it in half for the top or frame end.. removed old shocks, pulled old rubbers out, I then slid the front side half of cut bushing on shaft, put shock on the snugged it up on the bushing, slid back side and reinstalled washer and nut tighting till i see the rubber blug out a bit. good to go.
