Canít locate shock replacements

Spent all day calling and driving around looking for shock replacements for my 1960 22í Safari I am in the process of replacing the 4Ē drop original axle to a straight Dexter. But I can not locate a shock replacement spent about two hours at Oreilyís cross referencing the length of them but Iím afraid the load numbers as to what they think matches will be off. Any suggestions ? Fully closed they are 9Ē and fully extended the are 13Ē any suggestions helps thank you 😊

Hello from Colorado: You have a neat vintage Airstream. It is the last year of the leaf spring axles. Airstream went to the now Dexter "Dura Torque" axles in 1961. I replaced the axles and shocks on my 66 Trade Wind. They were a Monroe shock, but might not work on a leaf spring axle. The shocks came with the axles from Colin Hyde in New York. He has the shocks you need. Here is a photo of my new, vertical shocks.

California's Inland RV is a big vintage Airstream parts retailer. Calling them should get you a shock part number. They are also famous for helping folks with Dexter axles.

HighSky is also a big vintage Airstream parts retailer. Maybe they can help.

Converting your trailer to Dexter Flex Torque axles is well worth it.

The last year of vertical shocks was 1966.
Airstream used horizontal shocks after that and those kinds of shocks are an Airstream only!

The shocks for a 61 will be vertical. I went to NAPA and got shocks for my 66 Overlander. However that was over 20 years ago. Even if I did have the data from that, those shocks may be different for an older smaller trailer. I got replacements by taking an old one to the store and matched by dimension.
