Could you post better photos that show what the two ends of the curved hose are connected to? For instance, does one end connect to that blue box? At the lower right end of the hose, is that some kind of fan housing, and is there 12-volt wiring going to it?

Is the blue box a furnace of some kind, from what you can tell, or a water heater? Original equipment or did the previous owner add it maybe?

Also what year and model is the AS? That might help ID everything.

Thanks,

Peter

Hello Peter, for now I have this picture but can take more. No it has nothing to do with the blue box which is converter. This curved black hose has an end like a vacuum filter and the ther end goes all the way in between interior walls and do not know where it ends. Thank you.

That's what I thought but not sure where the other end connects.

Looks like the bathroom exhaust fan to me. There should be a little squirrel cage fan attached to that hose at one end, and the other end will go through a hole in the floor.

I double-clicked on the image, enlarged it, and zoomed in on the end of the hose just above the red-handled plumbing valves. IMO there may indeed be a squirrel cage fan at the end just to the left of the vacuum filter hose end, and maybe some 12-volt wires to power the fan?

If you look for the exhaust end of the hose, it may be nearby:
-- on the exterior
-- on the roof
-- under the floor

Alternatively, does the hidden end of the hose connect to a ceiling register/vent over the bathtub or shower, to take moist air and send it outside? There should be some visible clue about what the other end of the hose does.

Good luck!

Peter

PS -- Thanks your new photo shows a fan motor and wiring IMO.

I think this manual covers your 1972 AS:

https://www.airstream.com/wp-content...anual.085c.pdf

On p. 45 [PDF p. 49/66] it describes the fascinating black-water-waste disposal system call the Thermasan, which actually evacuated black water under the tow vehicle! Real space-age stuff here!

Who needs Sputnik? Airstream has Thermasan!

On PDF p. 57/66 the specs refer to a bath exhaust fan, which is described at the bottom right of p. 31 [PDF p. 35]. The switch in theory should be at the bottom of the bathroom vanity light. Please check and confirm.

Signing off for now.

Good luck!

Peter

The exhaust is probably on the fan housing itself and goes directly through the floor...cant see it in the photo. The hose is on the intake side of the fan. Look under the trailer and you will probably see the exhaust port.

That's the toilet fume exhaust vent. You turn it on when you sit on the toilet to use it, so the smell vents outside the trailer, instead of gassing your fellow campers.

Remember, you asked...
