Wardrobe/dresser replacement

How much trouble is it to take the 2 wardrobe cabinets and dresser out from the road side in my '77 Excella 500 and replace it with a twin bed frame and mattress? It looks pretty much straight forward but where would I get the frame parts i.e. tambour sliding doors, etc.

craig,

I have cnsidered the same issue in my 76 Motorhome. I have the same setup only on the oppisite side of the rig.

Demolition is easy. Rebuilding is hard. for parts on the frame and edge for the bed as well as the tambour for the fronts you are going to have to scavenge. You may want to post a wanted post here as well as on the VAC site. Every once in a while I see someone getting rid of an entire bed setup but shipping is an issue. You would have to go get it. I know ther is a RV Graveyard in the Lake City, FL area that have a couple of 70's vintage units, but I do not know what is still there.

Also you may want to consider just shortening the closet at the foot of the one bed so you still have some hanging space. If you demo carefully you may be able to move the other closet to the foot of the existing bed as well.

Brett,
Thanks for the advice. If I remove the dresser and wardrobe cabinets on either side of that, there are still 2 wardrobe cabinets opposite each other just before you enter the rear bathroom. A packrat would have loved my trailer because of all the storage space. I guess this is why I am considering an '81 or '82 Excella II 25' model a couple years down the road because I have more space than I really need.
