Using Office Chairs

I am thinking of buying a couple of those height adjustable office chairs with wheels. I have bought them before for office use and put them together - the center post sits in a base. I was wondering if anyone has used these on a motorhome and used a base that is built in to the floor (like some boat chairs have bases built into the deck and you insert the post into it that the chair is mounted on). And if so, has anyone found a way to make the chair bar height?

One problem will be the diameter of the mounting post. A boat seat has a post 3 to 4 inch in diameter. I am sure it is a side to side strength issue.
