Hi Jim, I hate to be the bearer of potentially bad news, but it looks like in the photo your subfloor isn't going into the c channel on the outside edges of the trailer - it is super critical that you do so as having bolts run through c-channel and the subfloor is an integral part of what holds the structure together; the shell can (and will) literally slide off the outriggers if not bolted through the sub floor:

http://rumblestripramblings.com/the-...-off-of-alice/

With shell on, we found we had to cut the pieces in half to get this accomplished, much like shown in this video:

I made the seam over a frame rail when I replaced the floor in my 68. Only way to get it back into the c-channel. Also, if you put a bull nose on the edge of the new subfloor with a router it will slide in much better. I would recommend coating the edges of the new floor material and with a good penetrating epoxy like West System to seal it (water is what killed the first one)

Thanks for the tips! I actually did the Bullnose trick for the parts of the subfloor that are inserted back into the channels. I should've sealed the edges though and will do so before I put the next pieces in. For the most part our floor was good and only rotten in a few places. What I did was cut right up to the edge of the channel and the parts that were rotten would easily pull out but 80% of the edges were still good. So I am meticulously cutting the new floor to insert into the channel in the areas where it was rotten and not where it was still good.

We built a Teardrop camper last year and used rubberized roofing seal to completely seal the bottom of our teardrop and it has held up well for a year now and over 3000 miles (see pic) we plan to do the same with our Airstream underbelly.

We bought the Airstream to restore and because we were tired of having to walk to the nearest toilet every time we wanted to pee.

Have made some progress - Installed insulation, started covering the walls and built a shelf over the bed.

Nice work! Keep up with the photos so we can steal some of your ideas.

What are you doing for flooring? We were planning on putting the floor down first before the cabinetry then putting flooring on top of it instead of around it. (Floating planks).

Thanks! We decided not to put the cabinets on the floors in case we needed to replace parts of the floor. You never know when a water heater will leak or a drink will spill and soak into the floor ruining it...

I was a computer geek (aka programmer) in a previous life, so my home PC is Ubuntu based. Sweet Home 3D - is the software that I used.
