Tile Shower ?

Hi All

I was wondering if anyone here had done a tile shower / bath area in a restore ? I really don't like the cheap look of fiberglass showers but I am afraid that the twisting and bumping a trailer takes might make tile fail.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience with tile ?

I'd be thinking the same thing, that and I don't think you need to drag all that extra weight around with you.

As much flex as a trailer will have, once you leave the flat floor area, you will have problems with seams opening, at the corners and long runs up the wall.
I replaced the carpet under the toilet with tile, weight for a 2x2 foot area not a problem, flat to floor with edges under the trim molding.
Trailers are designed for lightness, and you would be adding about 50 square feet.

Remember, that the shell flexes, inside and out.

Rigid ceramic tiled surfaces in an Airstream won't last.

That is what I thought, it was actually that Matt Hoffman trailer I saw and his shower was what made me want to do mine in that way.

I should let you all know I am not doing an Airstream, I am actually building out a living quarters in an all aluminum horse trailer, and am going to do it in a way far more akin to a nice mid century mod with a cowboy twist, than a horse trailer.

This forum is far superior to any other I have lurked through and my father in law is a member here and suggested I would do far better here than the horse trailer oriented forums, and I agree so I hope you let me stay ...

That trailer is parked not far from my parents home and next time I am in Santa Barbara I may just have to go knock on his door.

I want to redo our shower, and I'm thinking of sheet stainless. You might look at aluminum tiles, yes, they exist, but also use a good brush on membrane- expensive but good at keeping the water from getting behind the tiles, wicking down the walls and destroying the plywood. Also, with a ceramic tile shower, if its on one side of the trailer, you're adding significant weight to the trailer eccentrically.
