Steylla's Remodel -- 1992 Sovereign 21
So, we're coming down the home stretch on our remodel so I thought I'd post some pics - I'll have a lot more completed ones this weekend as what we call Phase 2 will be completed then. We will still have the shower/toilet area to do -- our guy was a bit shorthanded the past few weeks and ran out of time to finish before we need to pick her up to go on a little trip. We'll take her back when we get home and get that finished.
So, the first pics show her pretty torn apart and this week he's putting her all back together again -- we kept the cabinets and all of the appliances had already been upgraded by the PO but we made a lot of cool changes!
We're not doing any of the actual work .. Avalon RV in Benecia, CA is doing that (and he does good work!) but I did source and pick out pretty much all of the materials!

And, here are some pics showing progress. The endcaps have been painted -- no more yellowed fiberglass!!! Also, the wall by the front door has been replaced with a real wood wall (it was that vinyl faux wood stuff) - the old one wasn't that attractive and had some damage plus we're moving the flat screen to that wall so we needed a stronger wall. The original mag rack is going back on with a cool modification - I had him replace that center portion that was that faux wood vinyl with alum -- it will have the oak wood frame with alum in the center!
The soundbar is going to sit on the ledge above the front cabinets and he's replaced the speakers and new covers are going on as well.
We're adding a second battery compartment under the sofa so the drawer on the left will have to be cut down a bit -- also putting in a new converter while we're at it as well as 2 new batteries.
The sofa has been recovered in choco brown ultrasuede and is sitting in my living room waiting to go back in this weekend. They also have to put the curtains back in the front.

Okay ... a slight delay on our project - they are not quite done so picking her up on Sunday instead of tomorrow -- he did send me a couple of new pics though!
The second battery compartment and new converter are in. Also, sound bar is installed above front cabinets and new speakers are in. TV is on the new wall - will be so much easier to sit on the sofa and watch tv now ... he still needs to hide the wiring on that. If you look closely you can see the new "bullet" lites over the sofa and the new alum. ceiling panel with new lights as well!

Finally...some pics of the finished job! We brought her back home yesterday evening and I spent all morning (yes...sorta playing hookey from work) putting all of her "stuff" back in! We had a lot done..first pics are of the living room area .. new sofa upholstery, endcaps painted, soundbar installed, new lighting.... Also, the tv is now on the new wall we had put in and I had a little modification done to the original magazine rack ... I had him put alum in where the faux wood was ...looks cool!

More pics... bath sink and bedroom area .. endcaps painted, bath sink area totally redone - new counter, new sink, faucet, towel rings and lighting. That light is an AC light I had him convert to 12V...and, of course, my porthole window in the bathroom door ... I think it makes it less claustrophobic in that tiny space We also had the door handled replaced with a more modern brushed nickel (Baldwin) lever. The countertop is Wilsonart and the faucet is Price Pfister.. towel rings from Target and I found the copper sink online!

New stainless backsplash in kitchen...spice rack redone so it's more functional and looks better as well. All of the lighting in the trailer (except closet lites) was replaced! Another super cool feature is the strip of alum down the center of the ceiling .. it really adds a cool feature! DH also had a new cable connection added -- looks cool on the outside.

I also had him redo the larger closet - it's really quite big and very deep and was really a "bottomless pit" no matter how I tried to organize it. I had him divide it in half (got the idea from one of the AS forum members who did that in his closet, so thanks!) and put shelving in the other half! I love it ... much more functional and I made sure the bottom shelf was tall enough for our wine bottles!!

We also did a lot of other "non-sexy" but useful things like adding a second battery compartment (thanks Inland RV), got 2 new batteries, new converter, new systems monitors, new propane/CM detector, new fire extinguisher, fixed several interiors on cabinets and fixed cracks in one endcap plus I'm sure other stuff I've forgotten by now... Next up is doing the shower/toilet area .. she goes back in 3/31/12 to get that done...was part of this phase but our guy ran out of time and we needed to pick up our trailer WITH a functioning bathroom for a trip we're taking next week!

Nice work Suzi! I've been following your progress on Steylla and it looks terrific! We've had our 1993 Sov for just over a year. Same floor plan, except instead of the gaucho we have the dining benches/table (which are actually torn out right now to be rebuilt). Your upgrades have been a great incentive.
Besides tearing out the front 'furniture', we've replaced ugly pink carpet with wood-looking laminate and painted the interior vinyl skin white. Last year we replaced most of the lights for LEDs, except for the vanity and toilet area. I can't seem to find a light fixture that suits me. Where did you find the fixture above your bathroom sink? It didn't occur to me to switch one from AC to DC -- might have to look into that...as long as I can outfit it with an LED bulb.
Also, for your sound bar (the hubby is lovin' that idea btw): do you have it wired to a DVD player in your cabinet? We are looking to upgrade our stereo/media setup as well...
Thanks and keep the pictures coming! I will post some of ours once I get them organized.

Thanks FlavAir! It's been a "labor of love" -- even though we had an expert do most of the work, we have been super involved every step of the way! I got that light at Lighting, Chandeliers, Light Fixtures, Bathroom Lighting, Lights You can convert pretty much anything - that is an LED track light ... my renovation guy said it was super ez to convert and he just added a light switch right next to it so you can turn on/off. The soundbar is wired to the tv that has a built in DVD player - he chased the wire up over the ceiling. That's the Polk 4000 and it fits perfectly on that little ledge above the cabinets. The TV/Soundbar are all AC only but we kept the 12v stereo, put in new speakers and have an iPod dock for that as well so we can have tunes while on 12v only. The Soundbar is fiber optic so doesn't play nice with standard wiring Would love to see pics of yours too! Our shower/toilet area should be done mid April -- will post pics when that's done!

table mount pics?
We are new owners of a 92 sovereign. It appears the mounts for the foldout table are missing. Could someone send pictures of how the table attaches to the wall? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Maineac Newbies
