Spring nuts for c channel?

Hello,

I am in the process of replacing a small portion of my subfloor in my 73 tradewind.

I know the recommended approach is to remove the belly pan to gain access to the bottom of the c channel, however I have thought of a way to potentially bypass this step and wanted to gather people's thoughts who are smarter/more experienced than me.

I see spring nuts such as the ones in the link below used in automotive construction. My thinking is to attache these to the bottom portion of the c channel and then just be able to screw bolts directly into it.

If I get some made out of strong enough steel it should work right?
