Should the window frames be painted?

Someone sloppy painted the interior. I'm trying to figure out if the window frames should be stripped to bare aluminum or if they should be painted? '61 Overlander

On our 73 I cleaned up and spray painted the trim a nice silver/aluminum color. Then clear coated them. They really turned out nice.

Originally, in '61, the window frames would not have been painted. Although, they may have had some Zolatone over-spray on them…generally though they were bare aluminum.

However, once they have been painted - it might be easier to keep them that way. It's entirely up to you and how much time you want to put into your restoration.
