Screen door latch

Could someone describe how the screen door is latched to the main door. Every time I open the door the screen stays latched in the closed position. I have to open both doors to get in.

On my '78 there is an alunimum tab that looks like it might have been used with some sort of slide latch mounted on the door. I seem to remember reading about Airstream using velcro for this function but I don't see any indication of that ever being used and the clearence seems excessive.

There are two rivits above the lock mechanism to the right of the screen door tab but they are flush to the door skin and don't appear to ever have had anything under them.

The z shaped tab that is welded to the screen door is part of the mechanisim that holds the screen door to the outer door. The two rivets you mention should have a slide lactch attachet to them. This slide latch would slide over the tab off the screen door. I bought one at the Sarasota rally for a diffrent use, but I had to take out a loan for it, it was a Factory part you know.

The screen door latch on my '77 Excella 500 31' is the same as the one holding the outside door open against the trailer.
