remodel '63 Globetrotter
I have a 63 globetrotter that needs a complete redo. I would like to do a rear bedroom, center bath, and front dinette, can it be done in a 19 footer? Has anyone done this? HELP. I have a pile of cherry lumber for the cabinets, I am a carpenter ,so that helps. Thank you ,Paul .

I had a 15 foot Canned Ham Scotty at one time. It had the the layout you are refering to.
Rear cross-wise double bed. Streetside bath.(Porta Potty in a closet) Three seater dinnette up front.
Subract the 2 feet for tongue and bumper on the GT and you've got 2 more feet to work with than the Scotty.
I think I've seem ads from the era of rear bed layouts in the smaller trailers so the factory must have though it was a do-able option.
Good luck, Tom

1963 Airstream Globetrotter Layout Changes
Here is the layout we're planning for the complete refurb of our '63 Globetrotter:
Our layout is very similar to the current Bambi 19 layout with a lavatory rather than a full bath. It is also very similar to the 18' footers of the late 50's.
You might also look at the current Bambi 17. We looked hard at the center bath but couldn't make it work out in a way we liked. In the end we settled on the layout you see above - which may be modified during the mock-up phase.
I have the chassis refurb'd, new floor and the shell back on. I'll be starting a mock up of the new layout in a month or two after I finish the windows.
I'm very interested in what you come up with.

1963 Airstream Globetrotter Layout Changes
I just remembered that I did layout a center bath version.
I never worked out how the plumbing would work out but and you might need to give up the wet bath.

Have a look at the 1957 Wanderer. Replace the front gaucho (couch) with your dinette and I think it does what you're asking.

Matt,
I have just torn apart a 64 Globe Trotter. I am wire wheeling the frame, ospho and por 15. Your design with the bed in back and the bathroom looks just like the one my wife and I saw in the Dave Winick book, Airstream Custom Interiors. I really like that plan but was wondering how I would carry it off with the large back window. I see in your plan too that the window span is too wide for the bed and carries over into the bathroom. Do you forsee any problems with this? I notice that trailers with this layout have a smaller back window that is offset. How do you plan of doing that. I am interested in following your progress as I cannot seem to figure out how the bathroom in the center, like your second picture, is going to look good.

Hello Matt,
Saw your layout. I too have a '63 Globetrotter in Denver. I have the similar layout for the remodel, however my original infrastructure layout is a bit different, i.e. my stove and refrig and sink are all on the street side with the appropriate combustion air and venting already fixed. Consequently, I am struggling to make the layout work like yours.
I have a couple of questions if you wouldn't mind;
1) Having placed the refrig on curb side with window there, what was your solution for venting? Assume you relocated the water tank on curb side to the rear under the bed also?
2) Your bed slide. I have the same concept in mind and wondered what design you came up with for easily sliding in and out without too much fuss?
Thank you sir!

1) we have an electric only fridge, so weren't planning to vent.
2) the bed was planned to be fixed, so no slides needed.
That said, our project has been on hold for a couple of year. Our current plan is to put it back the way it started with front and side gouchos and rear bath.
