Redesign in the st louis area?

If i decide to get a used AS that has a QUEEN bed and i want to take it out and get twin beds put in instead... is there anyone you know of that does this kind of thing in the ST. Louis area?

I have seen many with queen beds and very few with twin beds.
the trailers have been lovely except for THAT. LOL

SO.... if i wanted to do something about that. does anyone know of someone that does this kind of work in the St Louis area ?

thanks.

Hi AnnieD. Just what model and year range are you seeking?

Member tksbaskets spent at least a year + looking for a twin bed 25' FB Safari before she found one. I wouldn't sell her mine ... yes, we like the extra space & storage of the twins.

Finding more recent twin bed coaches can take a lot of patience. Some of Teresa's threads...

You would probably find that Jackson Center is going to be the best and most accessible major rehab center for you.

Hi Canoe.... i am not looking for something really old.... unless its got all the up to date stuff on it.
i have seen 2 for sale that i like but i didnt act fast enough because i was still trying to decide if i wanted the twin beds or not. but i DO want them so.... its a matter of looking around.

i have seen many nice AS that have the queen bed but i dont want that.
so.... i got to thinking if i was to get one of THOSE... i would want to take out the queen and put a twin bed on one side and maybe a desk on the other to use as a rear office.

i am looking at one now in the St. Louis area and if i bought it....before i picked it up i would like to have that work done on it.

so.... i need to find someone that could give me an estimate on generally what that might cost me.

at this point i am all over the road about what i want to buy.
i have to do more research and then choose from there.
LOL
BUT... i do have to get this done by June because my lease is up in July and THATS when i want to get started fulltiming.
i dont want to sign another year lease.

would jackson center do what i wanted? i thought that was just where the manufacturer is.

Foiled Again is fulltiming in her 25' FB and has a side-to-side queen. She lusts after any of the more recent fore-and-aft queens; eg, 27' FB or 28' Internationals.

I can speak for the 25' FB twin models. They fit a wide sideways outside storage compartment at the front and a wide roadside outside compartment under the roadside twin bed. Note where the curbside storage compartment is if you're looking at those -- that's handy to have and the HW heater is along the wall at the foot of the curbside twin; the voltage converter is just midships of the HW heater -- I'd think those would have to end up in that same location. Talk to the factory to see how they'd suggest customization with one bed & a desk.

Good deal on calling the factory! Quite a number of Airstream dealers do panel replacement but you are suggesting cabinet work too. But your project may involve pulling some interior panels. And, unless I knew the restorer very well, I'd more likely trust the factory if they retrofit a 25' FB type outside storage compartment.

Keep us filled in on your search!

US Adventure in Davenport, Iowa could probably do it. I've seen other customization work by them and it is of top quality. US Adventure RV | Iowa RV Dealer and Sales of Motorhomes Travel Trailers Fifth Wheels and Popup Campers

remodel

Yes, USAdventure does good work. I bought from them and live 3 blocks away. Call and ask for Leon, he is incharge of the body shop. It's interstate from StLouis to Davenport; and than you have I80 going west.
Good luck

AnnieD,
If the trailer you are looking at is on Craigslist I know if one similar for sale completely rehabbed with rear twin beds. The cost might be comparable with another + having Airstream do the rehab.

Hey guys... thanks for the rehab info... i'll check it all out.
and i did ask airstream about doing the twin bed and desk in the back. they gave me a ball park estimate of about 3K.... because of the matching wood.

thats alot. it would be alot less if i just got twin beds in there.
actually what i think i would do is get ONE twin and put my own desk in there.
so then.... i would have them put only one twin in and then leave the rest of the area open. that would be great.

i asked the guy all kinds of questions and they can do anything.
i will check with the other sources as well

thanks again... i appreciate it.
