Recliners? Point me in the right direction

Cheryl... my wife and I are internet junkies. And, we are supported by our internet-based business. Our MacBookPros spend a considerable amount of time on our laps for both business and pleasure. Over the years, we have migrated toward "lap desks" which are like small tables with soft cushioned bottoms, which rest on our laps while we sit in our recliners. This is for work, email, internet surfing, movie watching... all of it. (Supplemented with iPads, when not at the MacBookPros).

While having one big folding table before us sounds appealing, I'm not sure if it would work as well for each of us individually, as the lap desks do. But I can see a couple of ottomans to hold the lap desks when they're not on our laps!

That said, you have been a great source of information and assistance in helping us with the transition from huge diesel pusher to Airstream! Thank you for that!

Recliners came in on Tuesday. Heavy little buggers. I assembled one in the living room. The covering is a navy vinyl and the arms are a natural finish cherry. I haven't opened up the side tables yet but they match the finish.





The heaviest part is the base unit, the back is a metal frame that snaps in and the back cushion goes over it.

You are going to love them! Tonite, I went out to our 34'er that I just (almost) have finished, sat in one of them, turn on the new LED lights, on dim, it only took about 10 minutes before I was ready to take a serious nap...

You're more than welcome. The chairs are still sitting in the living room, waiting on me to finish up the trailer. That should be before Friday because we are taking it out this weekend to the local campground. Ill post pix for sure.

One quick question, do you all bolt the recliner bases down to the floor or can you leave them loose and hope they don't move too much? I should be putting them in tonight or tomorrow.

Factory bolts them down to a "platform" which has two thumb screws you can loosen and change the angle of the chair or remove the chair(s). We like the factory. In two other AS I put in Lazy Boy 30" wall huggers and did not bolt them down. I put in two eyelet bolts and used a bungy cord to strap them in when we were rolling down the road.

We put these factory recliners in our FC 25' Rear Bed model with nothing to fasten them down. In two years travel all over the country they have never moved while towing.

Also as a method to help keep down the excessive hitch weight of our FC 25' we slide them back about four feet when towing to lighten the tongue load a bit. No movement whatsoever. Our truck is a rear coil spring Ram 1500, the hitch is a ProPride with tapered w.d. bars, and we run our Michelin 16" tires at 65 psi rather than 80, so the ride back there is relatively gentle.

I have 2 ekornes stressless chairs. They're very modern like the Herman chair, very light and can be strapped down. I don't think they're cheap but they're the best in my opinion. I'm considering using mine in the remodel. Ekornes.com

We use the smaller size and they go through the door just fine. They are heavy and in two pieces. Two people make it easier.

Is the small table option worth it? Thinking of one of these in my Classic 25fb. If I can get a fold-away table made I could use the recliner table when the dinette table is stowed.

If I end up cut down my dinette table to a permanent position then I don't think the recliner table is needed or will work.

Just ordered my Lambright Wall Hugger directly from Vernon at Lambright. Getting it covered in Ultraleather Brisa 3867 Golden to match my Airstream's Ultraleather. I chose the oak handles. The maple Vernon, said was almost a white wood and felt the oak would be better to match the hickory cabinets. I didn't get the side table option. Should ship around May 4.

Got a call from Lambright on Friday saying my recliner shipped on May 4th. Got the recliner yesterday, May 6. Here are some photos. The chair must be assembled but requires no tools

The metal back rest slides over the brackets on the base. Then you slip over the backrest and secure the loops on the base. I'm going to take the chair over to the Airstream in storage today to see how if looks. I haven't removed the curb dinette furniture yet but I'm hoping to get an idea of the table height vs chair height.
