Proud new owner... so many questions

OK, so we just bought a 1965 International Ambassador Twin to be used as the "guest house" for our tiny cabin in the woods in the Catskills. We love it! It's in pretty decent shape, mostly but not entirely original.

I am looking for opinions on whether I should slavishly restore her or simply do some minor renovations and decoration to make her a comfortable and stylish place for guests.

Thoughts???

i'd say if she is in good shape and all systems work, just do the minimum to start with . you may find that you love her, or dont like the floor plan or need something different or want to gut and re do completely. my 57 had been sitting for many years and was a mouse house so i had to gut and restore. a couple of things i thought would be GREAT are not really what i need/want so am planning to make some revisions.( for example a pantry that rolls out sounded good but is not practical.)
have fun!

I agree! Make sure you do the maintenance: seal the exterior well, for example. Live with it as-is and enjoy it!

We keep our retro. It is a nice break to step back in the past, when you enter. There are old radios and accessories still available. You will need to do the usual maintenance to keep things functional and prevent leaks.
