Paper Towels

Two questions:

1) Best paper towel holder for a late model Airstream?

2) Best location for said paper towel holder?

I am pondering this one (https://www.simplehuman.com/wall-mou...tainless-steel) and mounting it just inside the door, essentially just below the keyhooks.

Thoughts? Thanks!

We chose a basic freestanding vertical paper towel holder. This is easier to take out to the picnic table when we cook and eat outside.

We have always used an upright paper towel holder in Lucy.

Bungy cord hooked to back of vent hood. No cost, out of the way, practical and works.

I put paper towel holder just inside the key hooks by the door in our 2015, and I wish I hadn't. I did it at my wife's insistence, against my better judgement, and found out that the bottom of those cabs are made of pressboard and strip out very easily. So I had to use larger screws, and it's hanging on, barely. When it falls off I will not replace it.

This pic really doesn't do it justice... we mounted it on the wall above the galley sink. It looks exactly like an Airstream holder should look.
Two sheetmetal screws or rivets is all it takes. $5.95 from Walmart.

It's a flat piece of curved stainless steel and the two black balls are spread and spring back into the ends of the paper towel roll. It works fantastic and looks "right"...especially on an airstream wall.

Paper Towels

I think I have the same one as Boxite does, good ole Walmart. However, I mounted it with command strips to the right side edge (sink side) of the stove vent/light housing on our Pete.

A roll fits perfectly there , and it looks nearly factory to me. Hope this helps.

Think I got mine on Amazon. Very "Airstream" looking. Works great and looks good even in my vintage trailer:-)

This is a little off topic, but close. I use the paper towel holder the PO left in my Safari. On the road, the towels tend to unroll themselves. I cut the middle third out of a 2-liter soda bottle and then slit it down one side. It clamps over the entire roll of towels and keeps them in place. Not my idea--found it somewhere.

Theil, you would like that one. We have the same one mounted under our overhead storage above the counter. That one has a spring at it that keeps the towels from unrolling while traveling

I have a brushed Stainless, magnetic holder on the heat shield under the kitchen cabinet.

Holds securely, more than enough clearance over the burners.

Mike,
If you cut a small piece of 1x4 lumber you can make a brace behind the press board to screw into. This will stop the paper towel holder mounting screws from pulling out and keeps interior holes to a minimum (you can keep it mounted in the same location).

We use the same one mounted just around the corner from the sink on the upper cabinet. It does look very Streamy.

It's like so many other things when traveling and living in a small space....you need to have what you need, and in a manner that suits you rather than frustrates you.

I think is worth mentioning here is that we always buy Viva brand paper towels for the camper because the sheets cling well to each other and we find that it never unrolls while bouncing down the road. If we don't, we find we need take a piece of painters tape to tape the loose sheet down and keep the roll from unrolling in transit.
