Need Help with the Cushions

We took the gaucho and side table out of our 76 Tradewind and are in the process of building a dinnette. We found a nice place to cut the foam to size, but I'm confused as to which way to set the cushions. Does the seat cushion go all the way back to the plywood and set the back cushion on top, or does the back cushion go all the way down to the plywood and the seat butts up to it? I've seen it both ways. I believe Shari's "Maxwell" has the back cushion going all the way down. What are the advantages or disadvantages?

Hi Edie,

I don't know that it's a big deal either way. More important to think about would be if your dinette is going to fold down into a bed, and what works best to make the cushions work for that.

On my dinette the back cushions sit on top of the bottom cushions. When we drop the table down to make it a bed the cushions don't move and we add three extra cushions to the table are to make out the bed. The extra cushions store under the table when not in use.

On some dinettes the back cushions fill in the table space to make out the bed, which I think is much better. Then you don't have to carry extra cushions just in case you decide to fold down the table.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the table will drop down to become a bed.
