Molding Piece Popped Loose in Bath

The molding piece around the front of my 1973 31 Rear bath tub came loose. It appears to have been only secured by glue and silicone calk. I was thinking of re- attaching it with 1'' screws either brass or stainless steel.
Is this a good idea. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for any help.
Thanks
Andy Oliver

It should be attached with "pop" rivets.
