interior cap piece on airstream 1975 sovereign trailer

WE are restoring our airstream and the big plastic piece over the living room area is cracked. What can we do to replace or substitute this?

Thanks
Kerrie

Welcome to the forums.

These interior endcaps can't be purchased new, and are hard to find used in good condition. So your choices are to either figure out how to repair what you have, or to build a segmented one out of aluminum. Rumor has it that Colin Hyde is offering kits to build these. I have recently had some luck repairing ABS plastic using marine style epoxy based fiberglass, if you want to go the repair route.

good luck!

End cap

I've seen on You Tube videos of end caps that have been replace with V shaped aluminum sheets. Looks nice. Also one that did the same with Balsa Wood cut the same way. It look nice also. Good thing my end cap is OK.
I'm restoring a 1972 Sovereign 31 ft. Complete gut out. Right now back with lighting and wiring. Slow go when you do it by yourself and friends.

I had to repair mine as well. Used MEK and ground up abs plastic close to the same colour as the cap is. It worked out fairly well. Then I got lazy and too the repaired parts to local the body shop to have them painted. They turned out beautifully. Both end caps, front window moldings, vista window plastic and the tub for $300. It saved me a lot of labour and time.
