I have seen several discussions on the type of insulation to use between the interior and exterior skins.I was wondering what type of insulation is used in commercial aircraft walls. Would it be adaptable to airstream exterior walls?

There are several different kinds from fiberglass batts to self adhesive closed cell foam that is aluminum faced. This insulation is expensive because it has an FAA PMA associated
with it. The commercially available insulation will work just as well. You also have to remember that corporate and air transport type aircraft have large air cycle machines, that work off the engines bleed air, that pump in an incredible amount of hot and cold air to keep the cabin hot or cold.
