Inner End Cap Removal and Repair 1952 SS Clipper
I need some advice on removing and repairing some corroded segments that are part of the end caps on my 1952 Silver Streak Clipper 22'.
To replace the insulation and seal seams I will need to remove both end caps. The front one has 4 segments that have corrosion holes. See pictures. I have removed the lower front panels. It appears that the end cap is attached to the arched top rib, I have not touched those yet. Need to get some clecos for that process. My guess is to drill out the rivets, cleco a few holes and gather a bunch of friends. Remove the clecos and gently lower it whole. I have yet to pull the inner ceiling panels.
Any suggestions for replacing the actual segments? Should I construct a jig? If so does any one have some pictures or advice?
And yes, I appears that most of the inner panels are steel, hence the rust. Inner end caps are aluminum.
Thanks,
Robert
