How to value original interior parts
Hello. I am a new member and first time poster. I have the opportunity to buy a '72 Overlander and I'm looking for guidance as to the value of and demand for interior bits and pieces. The interior is 100% original and in good condition, everything is there, but I don't need it. I reno frames, ribs/bows and shell and sell them along with axles and tires. I don't usually buy trailers in this condition but I have a customer who has been looking for a '72 Overlander. The trailer is more than I can spend for the numbers to work out BUT if I can sell the interior it might. Does the interior have value? If so, where do I sell the items? Thanks, Jim

The value of most used things Airstream, is the price someone is willing to pay for that part. Not a real big market! Advertise and hope for the best.

I agree the market will be small. I would list them in the Classified section here and eBay. Im sure thats not super helpful as you need at least some kind of idea on value to know if the project falls in your budget.
Perhaps your client is willing to increase theirs???

Vintage Airstream parts are pretty specific to years & lengths or trailers. If you happen to find someone looking for the exact parts you have for the same year & model of trailer you have at the time you are selling them and they are looking - that would be a great thing! But, the chances of that a being the case is pretty slim...
Then there is the issue of shipping the larger parts...
Most people just pass along parts to those who can use them...or sell smaller "unobtainium" parts at Airstream swap meets or on the classifieds here. Like others have said, not a huge market...

I'd say the market for 50 year old interior parts is pretty limited. There are only so many people restoring vintage trailers to "as-new" or "stock" condition. Many people that are renovating older trailers are doing some modernizations and/or custom updates to reflect their desires.

Welcome to the Forums!
The value of the interior is very little, if only because most of it cannot be removed without damaging it.
This trailer has its highest value for someone looking for a "survivor"--that is a complete trailer in useable, original, and unmolested condition. Problem is that connecting a survivor with a survivor buyer is like finding a matching kidney donor. So, offer what it is worth to you and be ready for rejection, or just keep looking. Perhaps the seller will reconsider their asking price.

As you are probably well aware interior items tend to be Big, Bulky and Fragile. No good at all for shipping therefore you will be limited to local buyers OR folks willing to travel because you have the exact part they need for the same exact year and model trailer.
A BIG stretch as best!
You might get lucky finding some local needing what you have with the same year trailer that is willing to pay something for the parts but don't hold your breath. All the comments you will see when you post this stuff for sale will be:
"I really need that part wish you were not on the West coast".
If you can't make the deal work without selling the interior don't buy the trailer!
If you can make it work you best bet might be "FREE TO GOOD HOME" just to get all the Big, Bulky and Fragile interior parts out of your way!

Jim,
I'm down in the Eugene area. I'm looking for a replacement of the folding table in my trailer, and if I can get a similar unit from another trailer it would put me a long way ahead of making my own. (I'm more of a metal shop guy, and never had wood shop in school so the woodworking needed to fabricate a new table using my own hardware just seems a little alien to me.) I'll PM you to see if maybe we can work a deal on a thing or two.
Thanks,
Scott

Jim,
Looks like you configured your account to not accept PM's. Feel free to reach out to me if you buy the trailer and want to do a deal on some of the interior bits and pieces.

Jim only has 2 posts, I believe there is a minimum number to be able to PM.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I passed on the '72 but purchased a '64 Sovereign. This is my first trailer of any kind and I plan to renovate back to original. She's been neglected but is otherwise 100% original and I believe close to 100% there. However she does need and awning.
