Corosion

I have corosion on the inside walls in front down near the floor. Some of the holes are about 6 inches in diameter, most are small. the previos owner had a bunch of old blankets pushed back in there near the water pump and they got wet and the aluminum coroded away from the floor up. the ribs do not seem to be hurt and the floor is solid. would just pop rivited aluminum patches be strong enough for the repair? mac

If all are in one panel I would replace the whole panel. If not patches of the same thickness should work as long as they are riveted into solid metal.

Take a look at the frame...

Mac,

If there was enough water there long enough to cause the aluminum to corrode, I'd be concerned about the frame underneath as well.

It might be worth pulling the belly pan right there just to assure yourself that you still have good steel supporting the floor.
