Clothes hangers that don't fall off
Does anyone know if there are clothes hangers sold anywhere that will not fall off the closet rod while towing the trailer? I visualise a hanger with a clip like addition to the top which clips on and off the closet rod. Something with a spring clip addition? Any help out there? Thanks.

We have these in the closet. They were there when we bought it. They are great, even the empty hangers do not fall off.

Maybe those types hotels/motels use?
Actually, we haven't had your problem, possibly because I split the 15" or so rod with a fabric shoe hanger in the center, which I use for folded shirts and underweat. I attached the other type of shoe hanger--the type where the shoes go in vertical slots--to the inside of the door. The space left for conventionally hung shirts and pants is so small nothing falls. (Unfortunately, the vertical bouncing of the trailer is taking a toll on the two hooks that hold the shoe (clothes) hanger, and the hanger is sagging lower and lower each trip.)

Us cheapskates use a length of that closed cell foam pipe insulation they sell at home centers. I believe a 10' length was under $2. It is not foolproof, but it works pretty well.

Had same problem going through downtown Los Angeles. Many, many pot holes. when I made my first fuel stop, I decided to check the inside of my AS and yup, everything came out of the closets.
Could have sure used those hanger loops then!.

Hi I've used plastic coat hangers with METAL hooks. The hook is bent over itself at the end of the hook..... put a thick rubber band over the hook and hang it on the pole.... then hook the rubber band UNDER the pole and hook it on that folded over metal at the end of the hook... You may have to try a couple of kinds of rubber bands but you can get large boxes of them cheap and they will hold unless you drive into the grand canyon... Best of luck in the future.....Rod

The best coat hangers like this that I've seen are made by a German company called HEWI. You can find information and sources for them if you do a web search "Hewi coat hanger".
They are made out of a hard, very durable nylon material, and come in various colors and styles. Several styles have a ringed top that fits around the closet rod, so it can only come off by taking the rod down, and also swivel 180 degrees at the top, making it easier to hang and remove items from the hanger.
One of my sons had a large supply of these hangers and sold many of them on Ebay under the user ID "Surplus-Saver" I don't know if he has more of them in his warehouse inventory, but there are a number of other places you can buy them also.

You know not sure if this helps, but in the newer coaches, Airstrem put some rigid looking plastic around the hanger pole (looks similar to a vaccuum hose). We've used nothing but regular cheapo plastic hangers and we've never had anything fall off while in transit.
Next time I'm out to the Safari, I'll try to take a snapshot if someone else doesn't get to it first.

An additional tip to the pipe insulation. We hold our pipe insulation on with Velcro. Why Velcro? They kept slipping off and Velcro was the only thing we had available while camping one night but it works great.

The best and cheapest trick is to place a standard coat hanger on the rod from the other direction, so the open part faces the door - not the open part facing the wall. It is simple, but it really works.

The primary cause of hangers fall off when in transit, "is lack of proper running gear balance".

so i'm having trouble with the hangers in my closet...at home;
do ya think it's my running gear?
twink...
the reason it looks like vacumn cleaner hose......
is because it IS vacumn cleaner hose....
and it's the same hose they used to include with the central vac systems....
they may have purchased a surplus

Lack of "proper" running gear balance is a known cause for hangers to fall off.
Ask those that had the before and after experience.

And we thought it was all those potholes we hit on the highway on all our trips .........So this has been happening ever since we purchased our new 28' CCD! Do you suppose we've never been right with our running gear?
What do I ask for when I take it in to George M. Sutton RV to correct this problem while still on warranty??

I don't believe running gear balance is covered by warranty.
A proper running gear balance is a complete balance of the tire, wheel, hub and drum, or rotor, as the case may be.
If you want to see one of the methods, please go to our web site, inlandrv.com, click on articles, and then go to the wheel balance method.

No wire coat hangers!
Mommy Dearest always told me not to use wire coat hangers so I guess I'd better check that stayput hanger.

Buying the correct hangers are.......
certainly cheaper than a running gear job! Are you saying it's probably the potholes in the road??
