cedar lined closets
In the newer Airstreams it seems they have ceder lined closets. If the smell bothers you are these liners removable.
Thanks

These are not air tight closets like a chest box would be, so I doubt you will experience any aroma from the CEDAR Lining.

Not a new thing. My '86 has cedar lined closets. The aroma is very subtle. We like it.

If the smell bothers you why not just cover it with a coat of urethane? Then you still have the look.
I have it in my trailer and now 19 years old. There is no odour whatsoever.

The older cedar gets, the less it smells. Good thing/bad thing???
To reactivate the smell it would need an occasional sanding or scuffing.
The urethane might smell worse than the cedar, especially in a closet. Try Shellac. Natural, no odor, and a great sealer.

My 1983 Excella has them too.
There is a reason, and the aroma is it. Cedar closet linings, like the cedar chests of old, are moth-repellent. Sealing off the aroma would defeat the entire purpose.
Of course as sandlapper pointed out, as it gets older the aroma fades. My closets have no scent at all. I promise you, they are certainly not moth-repellent any longer. I've got the holes in my best suit to prove it.
I've been meaning to give them a scuffing to try to reactivate the scent, but haven't gotten around to it.

A few drops of 100% pure & natural Texas Cedar Oil on a cotton ball dropped in a garment bag will keep the moths away from suits.
A few drops of cedar oil on some cotton balls stored in a ziplock bag in your Airstream closet can also restore the cedar aroma. (brushing the oil on the cedar lining would be an over-restoration; it would overpower).

We like the cedar smell of our closet, and when my wife noted that it had faded to nonexistent, I applied a light coat of Cedar oil to it. It worked great if you like the smell of Cedar. You really can't smell it outside of the closet.

I find cedar to be a very fresh, clean scent.
Doug put cedar paneling leftover from closets at home on the floor of our closet in the interstate Love it.
I think you can also lightly sand these to restore the scent.

I agree, love the smell of cedar. Had it in our boat closet, so why not the 'land yacht'
In fact Home Depot sells a cedar lining kit for $29.99 that I purchased and plan on installing in our Airstream Interstate closet.
Also just put a teak shower mat in bathroom. Love that smell as well!!
