Im my quest to put red oak on all the interior panels of my 27' overlander. I removed one of the long gold anondized trim parts that goes from the bathroom door to the front end cap. I need to know if they can be tossed out or do they have anything to do with the structural integrity of the trailer. they will create a bump on my wood. the reason im asking is because they are pretty hefty and solid. If they are would it be ok to put 1/16 " aluminum in its place. As it has less crown to it. the original has a rounded top and is sticking out to far. I figured I better ask as I only took off one. Last thing I did without asking took me 15 minutes to demo but 6 hours to put back...thanks for your input

Ed, Don't trash it, but it isn't necessary for structural rigidity. It is what Airstream used to place and hold the divider panels. You might want it to refurbish with later, or another Airstreamer might need it.
By the way, be careful with your replacements as it is oh so easy to put more weight in your trailer than you meant to. Many, many trailers are overweight and their owners never suspect it!
