Adjustable Bed / Solutions
My wife and I bought a Tempurpedic bed a few years ago and we also bought an adjustable motorized frame. Most importantly, we have a king bed but it is made up of two XL twins to allow for both sides to be adjusted separately.
When we bought our Airstream, we bought the 27FB Twin. I had the idea of making them adjustable down the road. Well, down the road is here.
I started out by trying to design a wood type platform for the head of the bed. I did not care for raising the feet (we seldom do this at home), so it seemed like a simple design. I also did not need it motorized. After looking on the internet to see what others have come up with, I ran across a product that looked perfect for the job! On top of that, it was very affordable and my design probably would not improve on this.
Here is the link to the product on Amazon:

Installing the back support was very easy. Since the mattresses are going to be lifted at the head of the bed, I needed to support the mattress from sliding off at the bottom. The plywood deck that supports the mattress is 1/4" and screws can protrude into the outside storage area ceilings. Adding a small 1/4' rectangle of wood strengthens the deck and will support short screws. I glued the small pieces of wood to the deck.

Sorry pictures are rotated.
I used 1" electrical pipe metal brackets although 3/4" might be better. Be careful to measure correctly and move the adjustable brace as far to the head wall as possible without touching.
I used 4" 90 degree stainless steel braces for attaching the Matress foot support. See pictures.

The adjustable twin beds are wonderful! It creates a very nice position to watch the bedroom TV and as they say on TV, "It will stop you from snoring". Well I don't know about that!
One careful note: To change the angle you just pull up on the bracket from the side. Here is the rub. Don't put it down this way. It puts your hand in a precarious area for getting pinched. I am adding a thick white rope to the side of the bracket so you can pull on it to lift the arm to lay it back.
Thats it!

By the way, on an adjustable bed, you use stretchable cords with alligator type clips that secure the sheets on the back of the bed. That stops the sheet from ballooning in the middle when in the up position, and from pull out from behind the mattress.
We use these anyway to avoid having to buy the AS curved sheets to fit our mattresses.

Great idea and looks like a simple solution to elevating the head of the bed. Wonder if this could also be used in the dinette for elevated back rest? Thanks for the post.

We have the same motorized bed at home and I have been wondering the same thing. Looking at your setup, though it seems to raise the head of the bed too high for sleeping, but OK for TV etc. Do you take it out for sleeping to create a less severe angle?

Here is a link to another product that might work more like the motorized bed. It is an inflatable wedge that can inflate with the push of a button.

It's lowest position is flat. The first rung is not as high as you think. Mainly because the mattress thickness limits the angle.
