I am still running into dead ends with the slats. Nobody seems to have them here in Memphis. I found a 4x8 sheet of this Alder Ash wainscot material at HD that is pretty thin and looks to be made of a particle material with a thin paper veneer material on one side. I am thinking about ripping it down to 2.5" strips on the table saw, but concerned that it will be too flimsy and bow once it is in the sewn pockets.

The cheapest blind I have found that is at least 72" long is on ebay for $50+ shipping. It is real wood, looks to be a mis-sized custom that someone ordered and it trying to unload. I was just thinking that this project wouldn't cost that much.

The only other idea was to buy one of the PVC folding doors at HD for $28 and just cut strips out of the PVC with a utility knife.

Anyone have some good ideas for cheap, thin, straight and light material that would work for a custom fabric folding door??

Try garage sales. Many are online nowadays, especially on Facebook. Mine were a give away for the whole set of blinds.

Our Walmarts in Oklahoma carry the patio door vertical blinds. Check out the curtains/blind department at your Walmart. Maybe they can bring you a set from another store??????

We purchased the slats from Home Depot 0 they are plastic vertical blind slates.
It took two packages of them, well 1.5 packages, think it was about 18 slats.
We laid them out on the dining room table over the fabric and marked the location to sew the pockets for each. We cut off the corners of the slats with a fingernail clipper to round them- that made it easier to slide them into the pockets. We then used an ice pick to punch a small hole about 1/2 inch from the top through the plastic and fabric. We bought cheap metal 1" key rings while at Home Depot to connect the top and bought the track slides from VTS Vintage Trailer supply. Took about an afternoon to complete. Was cheap and easy to make and works perfectly.

Klatawa, does the stationary panel cause any problems with the doorway being too narrow? I'd like to have an 8" wider shower on the other side of that door and thought this might be the solution.

I'm going to try the fabric sliding door using Home Depot vertical blind replacement slats. (talk about a Johnny Come Lately, right?)

Only problem is I no longer have the slides for the folding door track on my 28' 1977 Argosy.

Is this the right slide?

That's the one we used...then ordered a batch of rings - like keyrings to attach to them.

I love this idea so much. I knew I'd find what I needed to know here... I'd like to reattach the magnet latch handle, too. Will there be any difficulty I should look for?

As for these slats, if anyone's interested, I've found full sets of horizontal and vertical blinds at Habitat for Humanity ReStores. They're practically free in the ReStore in Simi Valley, CA. These come in handy for a lot of projects. I've used them to weave through chainlink fencing for privacy, for instance.

I took the approach of making a divider out of fabric with pockets for vertical blind slats. It was easy, and I think it turned out rather nice.

The male side of the latch broke and now I can't find a match. My door is in great shape otherwise. Does anybody know where to find the original hardware for these doors? I have tried the obvious places with no luck. 1993 Excella 29'

There are so many names - according doors, accordion screens, folding doors, accordion divider, Room divider, etc. any help is VERY APPRECAITED!
