'78 airstream trailer

I have recently purchased a 1978 Airstream Soverign International 31'. I have looked in the Airstream Trailer Forums (by Model & Year). I find separate listings for Sovereign and International, but no Sovereign Internationals and the 1978 year is not listed in either of the above categories. What is the explanation for this discrepancy? Have I purchased something that is neither fish nor fowl?

I am beginning to go through the trailer initially trying to do a thorough cleaning of the interior and an assessment of what needs attention. I think this forum will be very helpful in putting the trailer back into useful condition.

Can anyone suggest a source for hinges and latches for the closet/cabinet doors?

Congratulations on your new Airstream and welcome to the Fourums.
I will have a forum added for your 1978 Soverign International it may take a few days. A initial trailer list was set up to cover many tears/models so it is not complete yet and we add to it as necessary as new members join.

Try www.inlandrv.com
I have seen some latches on their parts page.
They might have hinges as well

I have a 1953 flying cloud and it needs to be reshined. I'd like to find a step by step process to do this. After hours of searching and not finding a difinitive answer, I am going to try my luck here with the forum. Does anyone know a step by step process with names of all the chemicals and where to get them? Anyone who helps gets two free nights at my RV park here in southern oregon.

Thanks,
Shine

Try Vintage Trailer Supply. They have all the supplies. They also have a page where the step by step process is detailed out pretty well. I have used their products and they worked out well so far. Plus do a search here on polishing. Happy reading !
