WINTER Full Timing... POSITIVES

Anyone who has been caught unprepared for a June cold snap in the Rocky Mountain States... the thought of Full Timing and actually understanding Winter is one of the four seasons can be POSITIVE. It is a lesson well learned with minimal effects on your health, mental conditioning and your trailer's menial defenses against COLD. Some areas have two seasons... Cold and Colder.

First Positive. Catching a cold snap in Tucson, Arizona in February and realize even the Southwest can freeze YOU and your water system.

Second Positive. Plenty of spaces at a RV Park.

Third Positive. You realize your furnace is feeble in a week of sub freezing weather, much like your air conditioner in a week of off the grid. So cold and heat both have no better advantages to Full Timers.

Fourth Positive. You are camped among others who share the same complaints and want to borrow one of your dogs for a couple evenings.

Fifth Positive. The long cold evenings and long cold days prevent you from falling asleep while reading a good book.

Sixth Positive. There are no insect problems.

Seventh Positive. Spring is coming and you can then find a Newbie to discover the first six positives at their expense when they pay top dollar for your Airstream.

Eighth Positive. When someone wintering makes a note in their diary about finding "Frost on the Pumpkin"... it was not in a agricultural sense.

Ninth Positive. The refrigerator door is left open to WARM the interior of the trailer. The contents are in the snow or hanging from a tree to keep other campers from stealing your groceries.

Tenth Positive... You cannot write checks to pay the Propane bill.

The rain has stopped here at home and I can go back outdoors and fight back the growth of everything that thrives during cool days and excess moisture. Excluding myself as I have not developed gills, but working on it to be positive.

Many of you have experienced similar "Positives on Wintering" where you should not have been... wintering. Please... stay positive with your remarks. I could have kept going if I were posting negative points. Of course, this is frozen tongue in cheek for those of you who actually believe these are positives.

It is not pleasant when even two dogs are not enough to keep you warm.

Hummingbirds can be your Full Timing guides...

There are obviously are NO POSITIVES for Wintering in North Dakota.

Anyone giving serious consideration to wintering in parts of the country where the snow flies and temperatures dip into frost frequently..., consider this Thread as a general agreement that there are no positive reasons to live miserable and wishing for a warmer climate.

Another consideration is to avoid wintering where the average humidity exceeds your age and the daily noon temperature exceeds the alcohol content of your favorite Tennessee or Kentucky bourbon.

I understand that thinking of Full Timing has its appealing aspects. But consider multiple locations as the "Timing" part of your choices.

If a bird has the sense to migrate... that should tell us all something. Hummingbirds have it figured out. If you beat the hummingbirds to your next location, you are too early. If the hummingbirds leave before you do... maybe a little frost on your pumpkin is all you need to figure it out.

We did.

You will never really know and appreciate the beauty and joy of spring unless you endure a Minnesota winter.

But there is a peace and serenity about winter in the countryside, rudely interrupted by the howling blast of an occasional and relentless blizzard to remind you how bad, bad can be. And appreciate even the cold stillness of forty below.

Are you saying there is another season other than Fall-Winter-Fall in Minnesota?
