I split!

It started to thaw out pretty good. I walked a bit of the road and enough traffic just down the hill from me proved no ice by 3pm. Earlier I drove all the way out without AS and 1/4 mile from camp no snow and dry conditions.

More on the way tonight so I took the opportunity and bailed out!

Even "risked" the Hwy 74 down to Palm Desert! I'd driven it before but not with AS. I thought a read no vehicles with more than 20 feet king pin to axle allowed and I'm just about there... I saw no signs and it was uneventful. Took all turns comfortably as speed limit...I guess the hazard is keeping eyes on the road as that's one heck of a view!

Thanks!

Glad you made it out....weather report up in that area last night didn't look too promising for couple days. We are headed that direction Monday, thru CO on way to Tetons, Yellowstone, and MT...hope weather holds for us.

I've wondered about snow chains. My RAM 2500 manual says not to use snow chains. What choices does that leave?

Most states allow snow tires in place of chains. That may not be the best solution in a bad circumstance. Which brings up the studded tire solutions. The RAM manual, of course does not apply to your AS. At least one set gives you some braking.

Suggest best is to stay put until the roads clear. However, consideration before you need a solution is very wise on your part. Pat
