Generator Size

We are getting ready to purchase a generator. I am leaning toward Yamaha brand. I cannot decide between the 1000 or 2000. We are only using it to charge the batteries. We are not interested in running AC, convection oven, etc...
Any input appreciated!

I think the 2k units are the "sweet spot" in price vs. performance vs. portability. They're not that much heavier than the 1k generators, I think they're a bit quieter, you get 2x the current for about 1.2x the price. I realize you're not worried about this now, but if you change your mind later and want to run the AC, you can add a second unit in parallel.

I like the 2K units also. We have 2 2K Hondas, but end up using just one most of the time. The 1K is kind of limiting.

2K offers reserve capacity at the expense of using more fuel.

If you truly are only going to use it for batteries the 1K will work.

Now for the problem. Depending on how you hook the generator up you may run into a problem when the frig goes to electric. If you plug the trailer 110 line into generator the frig will go to electric and you will be charging through the convertor. The combination may reach the limit of the generator.

I wanted Nachos for lunch one day while on the road. Started the 1K generator and all was will till the microwave kicked in. I had failed to set the frig to gas and turn the convertor off.
